Starve Cancer and Feed Your Body

dark chocolate covered cherriesI’m a cancer survivor who likes  dark chocolate and the occasional glass of cabernet, so I’m delighted to hear about the work of the Angiogenesis Foundation.

They are  identifying foods containing chemicals that evidently choke-off blood supplies to tumors, starving them to death.

William Li, head of the Angiogenesis Foundation at a prestigious TED Conference revealed,  according to research red grapes and dark chocolate join blueberries, garlic, soy, and teas as ingredients that starve cancer while feeding bodies.

We are rating foods based on their cancer-fighting qualities. What we eat is really our chemotherapy three times a day. — Red wine and dark chocolate cancer killers: researcher

TED, which stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, is a nonprofit dedicated to “ideas worth spreading.” TED2010 has featured speaker after speaker for whom their subject matter is their life’s work.

    I have to say, I ate really well today. LOTS of fruits, some whole grains & very little meat. I did allow myself a Coke. Still working on that.

      @Lana,
      One day at a time is the way to go. We all “reward” ourselves with various poisons from time to time. Also don’t forget drinking 1/2 coke is possible. ;)

    Hi TT. This was interesting to note and it will be interesting to watch the video on TED, which I am huge fan of.

    I also didn’t know you were a cancer survivor, so it was good to know a little more about you.

      Hello there,
      Thanks for the visit. I hope I can make some time this week to some blog commenting. My reading list is long and my time is short as I begin a new contract job today. I’m a really big TED fan but I couldn’t locate Dr. Li’s two talks on video on the site. If you find them please let me know.

      And, “yes” I beat cancer but I don’t usually choose to share that. There are many other experiences I have had that I also I choose not to share until the time feels right to me. Unlike most who feel they create close relationships quickly with others they meet online, I’m an introvert and this form of communication and connection feels distant to me.

    So glad to hear that a glass of Cab isn’t all that bad for us cancer survivors. There are some posts out there saying that alcohol use can contribute to breast cancer but I’m at the point now that I say phewie — I am going to enjoy my glass of wine and heck with the Big C!
