IMO the greed is endemic and caused by the unrealistic expectation of achievement of the "American Dream". In fact the bailout resulted in American each man, women and child in America carrying a debt burden of $199,000. That figure does not include the individual mortgage and credit card debt, etc.

Banker and former Presidential candidate Charles Collins is a lawyer, has owned banks, and served as a bank director. He believes we’ll never get out of debt because the Federal Reserve is in control of our money.

“Right now, it’s perpetuated by the Federal Reserve making us borrow the money from them, at interest, to pay the interest that’s already accumulated. So we cannot get out of debt the way we’re going now.”

Economist Henry Pasquet is a tenured instructor in economics. He agrees the end is near for the U. S. economy.

I think this video is worth watching. The Money Masters: How International Bankers Gained Control of America
http://pakalert.wordpress.com/2008/11/16/the-money-masters/

Most Americans are in the dark when it comes to understanding the forgoing, let alone, accepting it. Change is inevitable. The form it takes is unpredictable and Obama is IMO in an unenviable position. He is also faced with the bitter defeated Republicans and among them we find many corporate shareholders and corporate kingmakers. In the past Americans have consumed their way into prosperity by relying on easy credit. This is no longer the option that it was in the past. He is faced with an ignorant populace with high expectations who have yet to accept the realities of the economic state of their own nation let alone, globalization. In fact, America has become a huge corpocracy and the citizens of today will be handing off a legacy of debt to future generations of Americans.

When I wrote above about Americans starting at the bottom in their own neighborhoods and communities to help one another I did not include this link that illustrates just one example of what can be done http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/SmartHome/story?id=6118522

I was really pleased when Obama got it.

The trouble I think is Greed. The other trouble is that the voters will back any ticket that will allow them to take out more than they put in...and will vote against anything that will mean tightening belts.

I hope that Obama has enough leverage and charisma to persuade otherwise.

Your blog looks lovely and your writing hits the spot.

best wishes

That's the part that scares me. For real "change" everyone has to do their part. Unfortunately I have little faith in humanity, but I COULD be wrong!
