Falling, falling, falling

I’ve been avoiding writing this blog post but the time has come to do so. To make a long story short I have injured myself quite seriously. I’m suffering from a head injury and from severe muscle tearing in both legs. The symptoms of my concussion related injuries include blurry vision, foggy thinking, short attention span, inability to focus long on tasks, migraine headaches, irritability  and short term memory loss. Therefore, I am not capable of researching and writing in depth blog posts and Richard (bless him) has been writing posts for onecoolsite.

I’ve never been a lay about and do nothing kind of person but now that’s what I’m doing. I’m coping with a minimal amount of work re: our small business and I’m chatting on forums but aside from that I’m non-productive. Doctor’s orders are to avoid all stress, stop doing research for blogging articles, rest and take good care of myself while I heal. Hopefully, if I follow orders I will soon be restored to health.

Thank you and a big HUG to all my readers.

    And here I was thinking you were feeling much better. <:( Please do make sure you take care of yourself. Your health is far more important than your blog!

    Please rest up, timethief! By taking it easy, you help yourself to heal — which is actually quietly productive.

    A huge (but very gentle!) hug to you, too. — J

    I left a comment on your other site with this question: what happened? How did you get injured? Speedy recovery, TT.

    @Lana
    I agree that my health is more important that blogging is but that doesn’t stop me from looking at my stats, and the lack of back links and feeling bad. So I guess I’ll have to recover from that too. :(

    @washwords
    Thanks for the hug. I think I’ll make a list of cyber hugs and then give it to my husband and friends so they can give me actual hugs in their place when I’m better.

    Well have another hug from me. Hey, you will have time enough to get your stats and things back up…..health is the most important thing. Non-productive, sounds a little negative, how about substituting “healing” in its place….Take care – ChrissyX

    Have another hug, the soft kind given to a newborn kitten. I hope that by the end of the year you’ll be as playful as a kitten and onward to the future. But, in the meantime, take lots of cat naps.

    timethief–there is nothing more important than our own health. Healing takes a lot of energy and it seems to me that you simply need to take the time you need to heal properly. We’ll all be around when you have gotten your strength back. Just worry about you right now.

    And by the way–here’s a big (((((hug)))))

    Wishing you the absolute best! In this world of instant this and instant that…some things still take time. This goes especially for healing. Please be kind enough to yourself to allow the time you need. In this particular instance you do not need to be a Time thief. We gladly give it to you -free of charge. You have earned it.- Hugs, Nards

    Don’t violate your Doc’s orders, heal first.

    Speedy recovery.

    @Dane
    Ummmm … dang it I wish you hadn’t read this. Part of the time I’m functioning quite well. Part of the time I’m not.

    Here’s the low down. If symptoms consist of fatigue, frustration, irritability, inconsistency with memory and concentration, maybe some periods of depression, perhaps headaches, eyes getting tired easily, and sometimes tremors and shaking, these are typically reported by people who have experienced mild trauma to the head. These are my symptoms.

    Symptoms should improve but it may take several months. If symptoms persist, a neurologist should be consulted to diagnose potentially treatable problems. It is entirely normal for EEG, CT, MRI, and neurological examinations to be normal despite these symptoms following a mild brain concussion.

    This week I ought to get back more results from the brains scans, neuropsychological evaluation, lab tests and such. I’m a driver who usually excels when stressed. Such is not the case at the moment and it may not be the case for me in the future; only time will tell.

    If I have suffered brain damage then I’ll learn how to cope with it. Until then I’m trying to follow doctor’s orders but it’s difficult to do so because I’m not a lay-about type of person. :(

    Don’t worry timethief. Chances are that time will do it. Time is what this condition needs. It did the trick for me. This irritating fatigue will be the last thing to go – that’s the usual pattern, that this destructive fatigue is slow to fade out.

    It’s a bit difficult to distinguish between the fatigue and for lack of concentration. It feels more or less the same but if you know that you really should separate the two, it’s easier. Then one can compensate a little by changing sleep patten and other things.

    “for example” it should have said…

    Hey, I get ya. I’m the cut the damn cast off my self kind of guy, but, recovery is important, and if there are ways, like, say rest, to help, even if that help is only potentially, well, you’re a business person. This is a simple cost benefit analysis. A couple months of slowing down might mean many more years of hard driving…

    Smell some flowers, read some poetry, get some sleep and take it easy for a bit.

    Then if all else fails and it’s a new life thing, then you figure what next, but for now. The benefits are all in the path the doc says can lead to recovery, right?

    Right.

    Yes, I am indeed a business person and I have slowed down in all respects so my income stream has too. By Monday I absolutely must have a lot of painting accomplished so I can fulfill orders. I’m doing a little more every day. All roads lead to recovery when you are clear about your destination and determined to reach it. :)

    timethief, I had known you’d fallen but didn’t realize you’d been injured again after the wedding? If I understand it correctly? Was just on your other site, to check on your progress. You remain in my prayers.

  32. timethief

    @Christina
    I fell prior to the wedding. The muscle tearing took place after the fall but it was not visible until the night of the wedding. It was spontaneous. There was no injury or impact or anything like that. It’s ongoing and hopefully will be over soon.

    Yes please do follow Doctor’s orders and rest up so you can get better soon.
    I wish to see you at a full recovery as soon as possible.
    Meanwhile I will find out who put the Voodoo on you and reverse it on them.
    You know I have the power. Lmao

    I’m hoping for a full recovery too. Thus far according to the medical contingent I’m doing okay. And as soon as they say that the next thing they do is caution me about over working and stress. The bruising has subsided. I only have a couple of large ones left on my thighs and I can feel the muscles healing under the skin everywhere. The real problem for me is the disabling migraines but I’m getting them less frequently now so that’s good. Thanks for your concern and well wishes. :)

    Thanks. It’s been a long haul so far but I have some good news. The two vertebrae are back in alignment, the muscle tearing in my neck and legs seems to be healing well. The concussion symptoms are the same. sigh … I’m beginning to feel sorry for myself and that’s not a good space to be in
    G’bye for now
