The Crystal Gazer

crystalballThe Crystal Gazer

I shall gather myself into my self again,
I shall take my scattered selves and make them one.
I shall fuse them into a polished crystal ball
Where I can see the moon and the flashing sun.

I Shall sit like a sibyl, hour after hour intent.
Watching the future come and the present go -
And the little shifting pictures of people rushing
In tiny self-importance to and fro.

I love this poem. It clearly describes where I’m at right now. The concussion has yet to heal so I’m having some difficulties with headaches, nausea and short term memory loss. The muscles in my legs from the calves to the buttocks are all severely torn and very painful. The self I was before I became injured and went on vacation is in pieces and I’m slowly uncovering them and making them into one.
