A fellow Blog Catalog member came up with an idea on the Blog Catalog Discussion forum that culminated in many members taking the test and sharing their test results.
This is a list that I have compiled of various blogs that are catagorized by the personality of the blogger using the Myers-Briggs typology test. Imagine, finding the blog of another person that shares a similar (or maybe even the same) personality type as you.
I started a Discussion thread on Blog Catalog because I was curious to see what the personality traits of bloggers are. I wanted to know if there is a dominant type of person who fills the pages of the blogosphere with anything from personal journals to information rich SEO blogs.
The Myers Briggs model of personality is based on four preferences (E or I, S or N, T or F and J or P). You combine the preferences to give your Myers Briggs personality type. Eg: having preferences for E and S and T and J gives a personality type of ESTJ. There are sixteen Myers Briggs personality types ( See: Blogs Listed by Myers-Briggs Typology).
Myers Briggs Personality Type is based on 4 preferences
- Where, primarily, do you prefer to direct your energy?
- How do you prefer to process information?
- How do you prefer to make decisions?
- How do you prefer to organize your life?
The Myers-Briggs typology test link.
INFJ is my personality type. Only one percent of the population has an INFJ Personality Type, making it the most rare of all the types.

I did a double-take when I saw your topic tonight — I, too, am an INFJ, though I didn’t know it was the most rare of all types. A good club to be in, I think. I am now curious about other bloggers …
I can’t believe it. You and I are in the same 1%. And yet I CAN believe it in terms of how we both are. And how we hit it off and understand each other so well. I just took the test and am the same as you. I got this: INFJ
So if we are out of the 1% then I guess we won’t be the bases of Blog Catalog…unless the entire 1% is here at BC!!! LOL :)
Love you and so good to feel your energy here. I’ve missed you — been buried in work and other stuff here at home. But know that I think of you often. Seriously. Hugs coming your way beautiful one.
Cool, I’m an INTP .. I think I make up 2% … so apparently we’re really weird, I mean unique :P
I’m ENFJ. Although these can vary slightly depending on our internal development and life phases. I sometimes tip over to ENFP, and I always know what it is that leads me there in those phases. In other words, “where” I am internally.
Hmm. I’ve taken this test several times over the years. Usually I come up as INTP. More recently INFP. Today I came up as ISFJ.
Go figure !!??
@Jennifer
Yes it’s interesting that we have the same personality type. Somehow that makes me feel good. After all 1% is a pretty small group so finding that bloggers who I consider to be friends and who have the same one is neat. :)
Lots of love to you :)
@RainforestRobin
This is so cool. We connected immediately and it’s been wonderful getting to know you better.
I’m sorry I haven’t been visiting and reading and commenting on blogs much. Over the course of the last couple of weeks I’ve been swamped with studio work, office work, home stuff and I simply haven’t had the time I wanted to use to blog in and to connect with other bloggers. Although summer is always the most busy time for us I am hoping that things will slow down a bit before the week ends.
Sending you love and hugs as always. :)
@DrowseyMonkey
So you have a strong “thinking” where i have a strong “feeling” that interesting. Also I’m not surprised to find you in the 2% category or to find myself in the 1% category either. We come by it honestly [she said grinning] after all we are Canuckistanti. :P
Love ya
@Pentad
It’s interesting that you brought up the variances. I’ve noticed that there were times when I was more of a INTJ than a INFJ. I’m trusting my intuition more now than I did in the past. I’m also following my heart more than I do my head sometimes too.
I hope your exams went well. You’re pretty darn wonderful so I’m sure you will come through with flying colors.
Love ya :)
@Ohighway
Maybe the ISFJ.result is an indication that your are feeling a little more sensitive than usual. There are variances as Pentad pointed out.
Best wishes and thanks for commenting. :)
ooo, I hate it when it’s dinner time and I think I have time to read one post in a favorite blog…only to find it leads down a fascinating path that I can’t follow this minute. I’ll be back to take the test at the link! What an interesting topic for you to cover.
@Lydia
After you take that version of the test I’ll post another link to another version of it. :)
Every time I’ve taken this test (I took a print version once during a personality psychology course, as well), I’ve come up as INFP. I haven’t taken it in a few years, but this time it turns out I’m INFJ.
I suppose it’s possible that I’ve let my perceiving self go a little bit over the years, but I literally only scored 1% strength in Judging (yeah, whoa).
This stuff is always interesting!
Just dropped by from Blog Catalog - your blog is really beautiful!! I’m ENTJ, and actually I’d read it was the rarest - the stat I’d read said 1 out of 400. But who knows… I love your name, too. See you around the net!
Well I took it and was really surprised at the result, I have not taken it previously, only Belbins. I too got INFJ and a score of 44 introvert. That really did amaze me because I am not really known for being introvert but thinking about it, I do like to socialise on my own terms! Great topic - Chrissy
@Atlas
Ahhh … so you are one of us , eh? This is fascinating stuff and I’ll be sharing some more information on it very soon. Thanks for taking the test and commenting. :)
@natalie
Thanks for dropping in taking the test and commenting too. Well isn’t that interesting that ENTJ is supposed to be the most rare. I’m wondering if we all aren’t “rare” types now. lol :D
P.S. Thanks for the blog compliment too.
@chrissy
I too am selective about socializing on my own terms. When I was younger this wasn’t the case but that was many years ago. Thanks for participating and commenting. It’s good to see you here. :)
I have always been fascinated by Myers-Briggs - but have never gotten my personality type. Thanks for the great links.
I’m an ENFJ. This post was fascinating. I really enjoyed it :)
@sheasy
I’m glad to hear your interest. My latest post is on Myers-Briggs INFJ personality types in the workplace. Thanks for commenting. :)
@MRI Thanks for commenting. I found this to be so interesting that I surfed the net and found some more information. :)
Interesting.
I came out INT, with my strongest score in intuition. I keep telling my guy I ALWAYS know what he’s up to!!!
Intuitively (lol), I don’t think these sort of tests belong in the workplace. I think it would be too easy be borderline. Employers might miss having an employee do a kick-butt job at something they didn’t seem suited for at first glance.
@Kathleen
The convenience of being able to take such tests online means increased accessibility to a far greater number of people. Like you I have some concern about borderline results in the context of an employment situation.
Although I don’t believe that anyone should be compelled to take a personality test in their workplace, I do think it’s useful to take one of our own accord.
Any insight an individual gains can be applicable to the workplace, organizational and club work, participation in team sports and to relationships with family and friends as well.
Thanks for commenting.
P.S. I’ve been peeking at your progress on your new and improved blog design. Good work. :)
Hi TT
As you already know, part of me is a neo-Jungian shrink-wrap ☺ and true to form, I like Myers-Briggs!
My personality has ENFP traits:
Extraversion = 22
Intuitive = 88
Feeling = 75
Perceiving = 67
I prefer to talk about traits rather than a personality types since over time, and sometimes short periods of time, these traits change. Fifteen years ago, I was an INFJ like you! ☺
Also I believe that any scores below 25 are not necessarily to be relied upon. My extraversion score is typically about 22. It can swing to introversion at the same level. What are your scores?
So like Tamera, who moves between ENFJ to ENFP, I move between ENFP and INFP. I believe it is, as she says, something about how we are and how we feel at the time, rather than an intrinsic state of being. What are your J and P scores, Tamera?
The 1.5% (for an INFJ score) you talk about is based on an empirical survey carried out in USA, I believe. I do not know how well it extrapolates across geographies, or how accurate it is. Recently all my friends and I did the test together, just for fun. About 75% of my close friends are INFJ! I notice that amongst the respondents here too INFJ clocks in at more than 1.5% too.
I suppose I had theorised at the time that what drew my friends together were distinctive and strong NF traits and what also drew me to them was a desire to balance my perception with their judgment. That may still be true.
I have never met another person with an iNtuition score as high as mine! The N and the F parts of me are very strong and distinctive too. I can rely on those for sure. It also reflects how I work and how I am these days too. I write long psychology articles that are entirely based on intuitive feeling responses without reference to textbooks normally either. I trust my NF judgments far more than I would trust another’s ‘Sensing, Thinking’ judgments. Continually I get into trouble if I resort to judgments that rely on rational thought. More often than not, I’m wrong. But that’s a whole different subject.
Keep writing TT,
Geoffrey ☺
Thanks for your comment. These were my results:
INFJ
Introverted - Intuitive - Feeling - Judging
Strength of the preferences %
44 - 38 - 62 - 17
You are:
* moderately expressed introvert
* moderately expressed intuitive personality
* distinctively expressed feeling personality
* slightly expressed judging personality
Found your site though BlogCatalog…interesting stuff! Before I go on reading….
I am an ENFP - “Journalist”. Uncanny sense of the motivations of others. Life is an exciting drama. 8.1% of total population.
