Pesticides and Suicides

I wrote previously about reducing pesticide exposure when choosing fruits and vegetables and now some new information has come to light.

According to new research from the University of Bristol recently published in the International Journal of Epidemiology (IJE) national and international policies restricting the pesticides that are most toxic to humans may have a major impact on world suicides.

Professor David Gunnell of the University’s Department of Social Medicine and colleagues from the South Asian Clinical Toxicology Research Collaboration in Sri Lanka found that Sri Lanka’s import restrictions on the most toxic pesticides were followed by marked reductions in suicide.
