From time to time I intend to blog about what I learn about myself through my dreams. I hope those reading my posts find this topic as fascinating as I do.

The Meaning of Dreams
Everyone dreams and dreams often contain significant information for us, putting light on what has happened in our lives, or what is happening and providing insights about our future.

In many ancient traditions dreams were considered to be messages from the gods B.S. Goel, Indian psychoanalyst and author of Psychoanalysis and Meditation, said:

“All dreams reflect the desire of the jiva (individual consciousness) to merge with Shiva (cosmic consciousness).”

Learning About Dreaming
Did you know the recording of dreams on papyrus with dreams symbols was traced back to 2000 BC in Egypt?

Everyone who sleeps – dreams – including animals. On average, we sleep for a third of each day. Take your age and divide it by 1/3 and you will know how many years you have been asleep – on the other side – in this lifetime. For example – if you are 30 years old – you have slept for 10 years. And, did you know that when you when you take a nap – you are ten times more likely to remember your dreams?

From the point of view of dreamtime and other realms of conscious awareness – our reality is but a projected illusion in linear time. If you can perceive of your dreams as projected illusion – in which you are experiencing and learning – then so too shall you look upon your experiences in the physical – and unlock the mysteries of things that trouble you or warn you of potential danger.

mistymtn.jpgMany dreams bring messages and dreamtime is often a place of transformation for the soul where it awakens afterward enlightened about the next step on its journey into awareness. Dreamtime is a time where the soul and mind process the path of the seeker who returns with a higher frequency of thought and personal mission.

Apart from recording dreams for the purpose of interpretation, there are other powerful reasons. It is believed that the precognitive dream may be a far more common event than is supposed. According to the Time Life book, ‘Dreams and Dreaming‘, researchers were stunned when they studied 290 random dreams and discovered that an amazing 8.8% could be classed as paranormal: they had aspects which, under normal circumstances, could not be explained. Indeed, the experience known as deja vu might occur as a result of acting out part of an unremembered precognitive dream. And because it is usual for most people to remember only tiny fragments of dreams, it is hardly surprising that the evidence to support this theory is not stronger.

There is another cogent reason why we should learn to recall dreams – in order to achieve Lucid Dreaming. Lucid dreaming means dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming. The term was coined by Frederik van Eeden who used the word “lucid” in the sense of mental clarity.
